What to do in New Orleans for Halloween Night

Halloween is a nearly month-long event in New Orleans. The creepy decorations seem to come out city-wide with the arrival of October. If you are visiting New Orleans, then you have seen the dozens of businesses and homes in the French Quarter that have been ghoulishly decorated in celebration of Halloween. On Bourbon Street, you will find more people in costume than out of costume making for one of the best shows around.

So, with only a few days left, here are a few of our “don’t miss” New Orleans favorites for Halloween.
The Mortuary Haunted House New Orleans
The Mortuary Haunted House comes by its name honestly. The building formerly housed a mortuary. Perhaps some of the ghouls walking around at night have already departed the physical realm.

New Orleans Nightmare - 319 Butterworth St
New Orleans Nightmare
Numerous attractions at the location make this one of the most intense haunted houses in New Orleans.

Scout Island Scream Park - 1034 Harrison Av in City Park
Scout Island Scream Park
This family friendly event is a collaboration between The Mortuary Haunted House and New Orleans City Park with numerous haunted attractions, fright zones, thrill rides and a scare-free zone for kids.
Ghost Manor - Magazine at Second Street
Ghost Manor New Orleans
This 1892 Victorian house on Magazine Street features dozens of animated spectres that dance and fly between the house’s windows, all set to a spooky and sometimes humorous musical soundtrack. This local favorite is viewable free of charge. Just grab a spot on the sidewalk and enjoy the show.

Skeleton House - St Charles at State Street
Skeleton House New Orleans
Another local favorite is the Skeleton House on St Charles named for the dozens of humorous skeleton decorations covering the front lawn. Like Ghost manor, the Skeleton House is great fun for adults and kids, and it is easily accessible by the St Charles Streetcar line.

N orma Wallace, a name that evokes intrigue and fascination, was a prominent figure in New Orleans during the early and mid-20th century. As a powerful and resourceful madam, she operated a network of brothels that thrived despite the constant threat of law enforcement. Beginning in 1920, she would operate brothels for the next 45 years, a span that has not been beaten in the history of New Orleans.
